Anderson Will Seek Another Term on School Board

Only a few filings have taken place on a slow opening day.

Today is opening day for town and school candidacy filings, and the chairman of the school board is one of the first out of the gates.

Dr. Bruce Anderson, who has served consecutively on the school board since 2004, will seek re-election. His current term is set to expire in March.

The opening on the board is the only one available on the school side after both Mike Joanis and Dr. Jerome Rekart came to the board in 2012 and Michelle Farrell and Stephanie Wimmer in 2011.

Residents can file at the SAU 28 office located on Haverhill Road. The deadline is Feb. 1.

On the town side, nobody has filed yet for the open position on the Board of Selectmen. Local businessman Al Letizio, Jr. announced over the weekend that he intends to run for the open seat that will be vacated by Chairman Bruce Breton due to health concerns.

The Zoning Board of Adjustment has also seen two people file for the two board vacancies.

Heath Partington, who currently serves as vice chairman of the ZBA will run for re-election. Mike Scholz, and alternate who tried for the board last year, will also run.

Other open positions include two positions for three years on the Planning Board, three positions for three years for Trustees of the Library, one position for three years for Trustee of the Trust Fund and one position for three years for Trustee of the Cemetery.

Residents can file for town office at the Town Clerk's office. The deadline is also Feb. 1 at 5 p.m.

Thanks for running for reelection! You have done a great job for the Town in working so hard to provide a high quality education for our students - just look at the high school, the accolades for the teachers and administrators, and the opportunities and achievements our students have realized. I look forward to your work with the rest of the great board in bringing a new middle school to fruition!
