Minor Injuries Reported in Dump Truck Swamp Crash

The incident was reported at 12:33 p.m.

UPDATED (4:15 p.m.):

The Windham Fire Department has reported only minor injuries for the driver involved in a 14-wheel dump truck crash on Rockingham Road Tuesday.

Fire officials responded to the incident at 12:33 p.m., which took place in the area of Northland Road. The dump track had gone off the road into a swamp near Northland Road.

According to Windham Fire Chief Tom McPherson, the truck appeared to have been traveling north when it crossed over into the southbound lane and down an embankment, ending up in an area of wetlands.

No damage was done to the truck's fuel tanks.

The driver of the truck was treated at the scene by Windham ambulance personnel but refused transport to the hospital.

McPherson said that along Rockingham Road was diverted around the accident for some time while wreckers pulled the truck from the swamp and cleared the debris from the road.

Windham Fire is investigating the incident at this time.

An accident in the last hour has left a tractor trailer in a Windham swamp, according to reports.

According to a Tweet from fire alarm operator Dave Avery, the crash took place in the area of 180 Rockingham Road and involved a 14-wheel dump truck.

The truck crashed into the swamp with heavy damage, and the driver is currently being evaluated for injuries.

The location of the crash is near the Northland Road intersection. There is no word as to the cause of the accident.
