Police arrived on the scene shortly after that but both suspects fled. One officer gave chase to a suspect on foot while another officer attempted to stop the second suspect, who entered a vehicle in the Glance Road driveway.

"The suspect (in the vehicle) crashed near the intersection of Romans Road," said the release from WPD Capt. Carl Wagner. "The driver fled on foot, entering the woods."

Carvalho was arrested around 2:25 a.m. near Cobblestone Road, but it was not indicated by police whether he was the suspect who fled on foot or by car.

The search for the second suspect was ended at approximately 5 a.m. Windham police detectives will continue to investigate the case.

Area police departments in Londonderry, Pelham, Salem, Hudson and the N.H. State Police also responded to the incident. All were called for assistance in locating the suspects who were still on foot.

Carvalho will be arraigned in Salem District Court on April 16.
