Rally to Take Place in Windham For Charlie Bass

The event will happen at Castle Commons on April 10.

A major rally for U.S. Rep. Charles Bass, R-N.H. will take place in Windham this April as he ramps up his campaign to retain his position.

The event will be hosted by the Windham Republican Town Committee.

Activists and residents in the nearby towns of Litchfield, Hudson, Pelham, Salem and Atkinson were all sent invitations to the rally, which has been dubbed the "Southern Tier Rally."

The event will take place on April 10 at 6:00 p.m. in the Castle Commons on 49 Range Road.

In a message from the Windham GOP, the organization dictated what it called the importance of the Southern Tier.

"The Southern Tier is the great Republican stronghold of New Hampshire. Charlie needs us to come through in 2010, and he'll need us even more in 2012," the message said.

The committee called the rally a "cooperative" effort to show support for Bass.

Windham has become a hot spot for political appearances in recent months, especially on the Republican side.

Appearances from Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, four of Mitt Romney's sons and Ron Paul's son Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., highlighted the N.H. primary period.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Kevin Smith also spoke to Windham activists two weeks ago, and Democratic candidate Jackie Cilley has also spoken to the Democratic Town Committee.

Bass, who represents the state's 2nd Congressional District, will once again go head-to-head with Democratic candidate Ann Kuster after defeating her by a slim margin in 2010.

The news of the rally comes just after Windham GOP Chair Travis Blais sent a letter to Windham Patch
