Update on School and Town Official Filings

13 total residents have applied for positions.

In the first three days of the town and school official filing period, just over a dozen residents have thrown their hats into the ring.

Headlining the town field for 2012 are Board of Selectmen incumbents Ross McLeod and Roger Hohenberger, who came out early on Jan. 25 to put their names in for reelection. McLeod currently serves as the chairman of the board.

No other Windham residents have filed for one of the two open BOS spots.

A new name has surfaced for the treasurer position, as Corey Lewandowski held true to

Nicole Merrill (Town Clerk) and Mike Scholz (Zoning Board of Adjustment) rounded out the filings on the first day.

Four others filed their paperwork on day two. Incumbent Planning Board member Pamela Skinner filed for reelection, as did Town Moderator incumbent Peter Griffin and Trustee of the Cemetery incumbent Bruce Moeckel. 

J.R. Seigel, who lost out in last year's Trustee of the Library race, will run again this year.

On the school side, we broke the news this morning that Chairman Ed Gallagher will not seek reelection. Jeff Bostic, who also has an expiring term this year, has not publicy stated whether he plans to seek another three years.

So far, two have filed for the two open positions. Windham Patch education blogger Heather Petro put in her paperwork to SAU 28 on Jan. 26. We will have an exclusive interview with her on her candidacy next week.

Richard Forde filed on day one. He was on last year's ballot but finished fourth behind Michelle Farrell, Stephanie Wimmer and Richard Horrigan. Wimmer and Farrell grabbed the two open spots in that election.

School treasurer incumbant Maura Pennisi has also filed for reelection along with school moderator incumbent Betty Dunn.

Those seeking a candidacy for one of the 14 open town positions or five open school positions have until Feb. 3 at 5:00 p.m. to file their papers.
