Windham Teen Selected in USHL Draft

Brian Morgan was drafted by the Indiana Ice.

According to ESPN, an 18-year-old Windham resident was selected by the Indiana Ice in the United States Hockey League Entry Draft last night.

ESPN reported that Brian Morgan was previously playing for the New Hamsphire Junior Monarchs, a developmental team in the state. He plays the center position.

Morgan was selected 28th overall in the draft, and according to the Indiana Ice Twitter feed, has a commitment to Maine.

According to the Junior Monarchs website, Morgan was the top scorer for the team last season, netting 22 goals and 35 assists for a total of 57 points.

Also selected from the Junior Monarchs was Natick, Mass. native Cam Brown, who will go to the Sioux City Stampede.

The Indiana Ice are one of 16 teams from across the country in the USHL.

The league is often a direct stepping stone to the National Hockey League, with hundreds of former USHL players currently in the pros.
