Current US governance is not immune to Medieval Feudalism. Vast estates of entrenched interests -Read More Banksters, Corporate enterprises, Unions, the military complex, poverty pimps, NGO's, elite academics, and plagues of bureaucrats in high paying government positions paying homage to their political lords in power for rights to largess subsidies, incestuous inside connections, protection, and bestowed preferential rules of commercial engagement. There is no red team nor blue team nor liberal or conservative.. just vassal warlords clawing for power, social status, and unearned wealth under a Red, Blue, and sometimes Green battle banner. It's all so new and unnecessary.

Animals large enough to kill humans should be euthanized, period. The usual pitbull momies out thereRead More are stupid. Go to Central Asia, aka Kazahtan and discovery that ALL dogs walked in public are required to have muzzles on!! What is wrong with our stupid, dog-centric soccer-mom culture?? Obediance training is imperative, but how many suburbanites do it? PS.I raisied and trained Alaskan Malamutes for six years, so I'm not just another poster.
Boss Hogg April 17, 2014 at 10:24 pm
Oldfed, thank you so much for your nuanced perspective. We also need to be wary if cows, they areRead More big and can fall on you. It sounds like you have already gotten into some of their BS! Also glad some one else us finally blaming the soccer moms. Thank you so much for adding such positive thoughts to the conversation!

"The bullcrap about a Pit Bulls jaw locking...." I feel so much better, their jaws don'tRead More lock but they can still rip me to shreds or kill me. But oh wait, if they kill me, it's my fault because I don't know how to read or interpret dog psychology. I guess that poor grandmother deserved what she got because she caused the dog to attack her in her own backyard while she was minding her own business? Did I get all the pro dog talking points correct?

#Gus Sotirakis. The Nanny Dog propaganda you printed is a myth and confirmed via BAD RAP (a pitRead More bull advocacy group) just last May. Here is their facebook posting: https://www.facebook.com/BADRAP.org/posts/10151460774472399 BTW, why would a Nanny Dog attack children so often.....I know, I know. They did something to warrant it. I wouldn't call that a suitable family pet, by any standards. Stop reading the Pit Bull bible to us. It just doesn't fly anymore.
Gus Sotirakis April 17, 2014 at 02:12 pm
Tribble by your logic about Pit Bulls you must think minorities are bad. Our prisons are filled withRead More minorities therefore if you're a minority you must have a propensity to violence or to burglarize. That is the mentality of the Pit hater. Take a look at some of the even Michael Vick surviving dogs that were rehabbed. Mel who was rehabbed and moved to Texas with his new owner was even given a key to the city. Here are some results of temperment tests given to various breeds. The test looked for good temperaments in dogs. Lab Retriever 92.4% Amer Pit Bull Terrier 86.4% Golden Ret 84.9% Yorkie 82.5% Beagle 80% Shih Tzu 78% Bichon Frise 76.7% Yes the APBT was #2 on the list 2nd only to the Lab. 123 Breeds were tested. There are 4-6 million Pit Bulls in the United States. That is a low estimate. 99.9% of them never hurt a person. Furthermore: No single, neutered household pet Pit Bull has ever killed anyone. What I'm saying is dogs are individuals. Pit Bulls are a popular breed and owners need to be responsible. Persons aged 20-24 commit the most homicides, again by your put them all in one box thinking, lets just put anyone that age in prison. That'll save a lot more lives than a ban on Pit Bulls. That's what you "ban the Pit Bulls" logic looks like to us. Keep your dirty laws off my Pit Bulls. I'll defend my Pit Bulls if I have to with my guns.

Isn't this interesting. Day, who recently is coming off a humiliating defeat in Bedford, is nowRead More trying to exert his influence in another part of NH because he wants to control the NHGOP. Doesn't he understand that the voters don't want to listen to what he is trying to peddle? Perhaps he will run this guy's campaign and have the same success he had in his own failed campaign and that of his roommate last month here in Bedford. Perhaps Day can organize robocalls like he did in Senator Boutin's District. I wonder how the investigation into those calls is going. I almost forgot to mention again; Day is planning on running for delegate in Bedford (along with his roommate). Any guesses as to how that will turn out?
Steve From NH April 17, 2014 at 07:37 am
"we can recapture the “Live Free or Die” spirit of New Hampshire"? Who isRead More "we"? Since you and the people you represent just invaded here to show us poor ignorant rubes how our own state should be run by 'reforming state government at all levels' - your words - and have repeatedly shown that you don't know and don't care about the desires of those of us who have spent the sweat equity to make NH what it is, which unfortunately has attracted vermin like so many of your FSP nutcases have turned out to be... I assume that by "we" you mean NOT THE CITIZENS OF NH. We are not stupid, we are not lazy, we are not takers, and we are not complacent or ignorant - but we are very much offended by you and your group assuming that we are all of those. If you want to become a part of the community and work to keep NH a better place while recognizing that those with different opinions and needs have as much right to be here and be represented as you do, and you do not - by virtue of your "libertarian superiority" deserve to have your own way of things, then welcome. If you intend continue to hurl thinly veiled insults at us, and pretend that those of you who just got here to engage in "activism" and "reform" are here to save us from our own stupid selves and bully people like Jim Scanlon when he dares to question your motives then get the hell out and go back to where you came from. I am quite sure you would feel the same if circumstances were reversed.
Bill Greiner April 17, 2014 at 02:31 pm
Steve, well said. Day is nothing more than a petulant, trust fund recipient who has a narrow viewRead More of the world and feels that he "knows best" for everyone else, even though he has only been in NH for a short time. He realizes that his efforts to expand his cult here in NH have not worked out as planned, and he is scrambling to try and get more people to buy into his warped way of thinking. He is not helping NH; he is doing his best to make it an undesirable place to live. He is not helping the Republican Party; he is trying to hijack it by bringing more fringe players like himself into the mix. Ironic that his step mom is in the RNC, and yet he is running around like a fool in NH and inflicting damage on the NHGOP for his own personal gain.

Agreed but the problem we are running into here is at the end of the tragedy, you are told the dogRead More belongs to the child (usually a teenager) and the parents refuse to take any responsibility at all. Even to the extent of telling authorities themselves to put the dog down. It's disgusting the measures some take to avoid responsibility and get away with it! You are correct the laws are there for the law abiding citizens, the rest couldn't careless.
Jack Baillargeron April 16, 2014 at 04:57 pm
Doesn't matter, If the teen lives in the home or one the parents property they are responsible.Read More Their home owners insurance company can be sued as well. Putting the dog down does not negate the incident. It is like destroying the knife used to stab somebody. The stabber is still responsible. I am not a lawyer or anything like that but read enough cases and know enough victims as a Retired firefighter to know you can win on these things easily. Might not be able to get money from some of these people but you can get them banned from being able to own an animal again at the least in my opinion.
Jack Baillargeron April 16, 2014 at 05:05 pm
Would point out also that is the reason for getting leash law or town ordinances. They merely stateRead More the rule and have no age limitation. I have seen children walking a 40lb dog as young as 8 to 10. There is no way they could control that dog unless the dog has been very well trained along with the child being trained so the dog will obey it. Problem with society right now is that no one takes self-responsibility for their own action anymore (well any criminal activity or incidents like this). Idiot owners like to blame the dog also to negate their responsibility. Start throwing them in jail with sentences they would give to a person for doing what the dog does and you would have deterent. But there will always be some excuse. It sickens me to no end.

Boss Hog I see you changed your subtitle from "telling the whole story" to "helpingRead More people make decisions". Was that because I pointed out the FACT that you were NOT sharing the "whole story"? Let me point out something else, your NOT helping anyone with you simpleton approach to a Blog. I get it, you don't like certain dogs. It's your choice and your opinion. Your NON blog is just a collection of stories written by someone else and pictures that have nothing to do with the stories you recycle. It it exactly this biased reporting of a collection of horror stories about people being attacked that creates a fear of these dogs. Not all bully breed dogs are evil and bad. I feel bad for the people injured. It's terrible. But you neglect to tell the OTHERSIDE of the bully breeds. I personally know many pitbull type dogs that do good things but unfortunately we live in a drama addicted society so happy stories don't sell. you are in no way helping anyone. Try actually writing more than five bullet points about a terrible story. It would be nice to see some real discussion. It's unfortunate that many people hate these dogs based solely on the news instead of based on personal experience. I used to be that person until I actually met several pitbull dogs.

Hi Maya- I hopped back on this thread for one purpose- you and others on this thread have madeRead More sincere, intelligent comments. But you are ignoring the cardinal rule of the internet: Don't Feed the Trolls. Boss Hogg is a troll. His biased presentation of one sided material, "culled" (pun intended) from a broad, unrelated array of news sources, is classic trolling. Remember: Trolling is not just for the comments! The whole purpose of a blog can be to troll for outrage, and pageviews, as seems to be the case here.

You people all should get a life. By definition none of you who speak out against pit bulls haveRead More any first hand experience with pit bulls let alone owned, or taken care of one. My pit mix is the best, sweetest dog ever. And he was the eighth of seven prior fosters - some good, others great. I know there are bad dogs out there, and pits like any larger dog are powerful. So when they're bad, they're dangerous - but there's nothing unique to the breed that makes them so. By the way, my cocker spaniel/beagle mix is crazy and dangerous.

If dogs have their ancestors wolves, we could see how human change genes of them. This example isRead More showing that all domestic animals genes where changed. We eat most of them or products from them. In thousands years we did not see a huge problems here. GMO products could be introduced right now and despite majority of science did not see any problems here people must know and choose. Majority think in their time that earth is the center of universe. They was wrong. Majority think that greenhouse gases are responsible for climate change. They are wrong. Majority in science is nonsense and create from science political propaganda machine for political or economical reason. Despite I think that GMO products are not dangerous, only time could solve how smart I am.

I lived on base while in the U.S.N. for many years and dog attacks in general were very rare. TheRead More reason? Because you could get in big trouble if your dog bit someone, like loss of rank, fined, extra duty, or kicked out of the military. The military has banned Pit Bulls on bases because they have a bad track record in the civilian world and an insurance risk.
tribble April 11, 2014 at 05:12 pm
Paul, do you follow military news? Have you seen the new navy missiles and the new stealth warship?
anon April 11, 2014 at 05:28 pm
#Paul, you bring up a great point there - that there are hefty repercussions for any dog attacks andRead More it forces people to be responsible owners and actually handle their dogs properly. The same cannot be said with the general public. Sometimes the owners may get a fine, but some don't even bother registering, fixing, or getting rabies shots. The fines for that are very minimal. I think your answer poses a big question - shouldn't we have more in place that reprimands the owners? In some states, an owner that abuses or neglects a dog can still own a dog if they choose.
