Sept. 11 Ceremony in Windham Next Week

Here are five things you need to know in Windham today.

1. Sept. 11 Ceremony Next Week. The Windham Fire Department will hold a Sept. 11 Memorial Remembrance Service on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 8:30 a.m. at the Windham Fire Department, located at 3 Fellows Road. Light refreshments will be offered following the ceremony.

2. The weatherman says ...
 Today's high, according to Weather.com, is 70 degrees with some morning showers in the forecast. The overnight low is a chilly 45 degrees.

4. This Day in History.
On this date in 1972, during the 1972 Summer Olympics at Munich, a group of Palestinian terrorists stormed the Olympic Village apartment of the Israeli athletes, killing two and taking nine others hostage. The terrorists were part of a group known as Black September. In an ensuing shootout at the Munich airport, the nine Israeli hostages were killed, along with five terrorists and one West German policeman. Olympic competition was suspended for 24 hours to hold memorial services for the slain athletes.
