Give a life saving-gift that is priceless: donate platelets or blood for patients in need

Help us spread the word about the importance of blood and platelet donations. Life-saving blood and platelet donors are especially needed during this time of year when busy holiday schedules and inclement weather can lead to a decrease in the number of donations made. Volunteer blood and platelet donors are the only source of these blood products, which are essential to helping cancer patients, as well as many other critically ill patients who rely upon transfusions.

To be eligible to donate platelets or blood at the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, donors must be at least 17 years old and must weigh a minimum of 110 pounds; valid photo identification is required. For details or to make an appointment to donate, call 617-632-3206, email blooddonor@partners.org, or visit www.dana-farber.org/blooddonation. Even if you can’t donate, you can still make a lasting difference for patients in need by hosting a blood drive in your community. To inquire about hosting a drive, please call Malissa Lichtenwalter at 617-632-3355 or email mlichtenwalter@partners.org.
