Earthquake Shakes Windham Area

U.S. Geological Survey reports 4.6 magnitude quake hits New England.

Just before 7:30 p.m., Portsmouth area residents felt the ground tremble and their houses shake as a 4.6 magnitude earthquake struck New England.

Twitter and Facebook were full of posts from Portsmouth area residents who said they felt the 25-second quake. According to NECN, the earthquake was felt by New England residents in the Greater Boston area all the way to St. Johnsbury, Vt. NECN also reported that the to U.S. Geological Survey Center, the quake was centered in Lake Arrowhead, Maine.
