Windham Heads Back to School Today

Today also marks the 50th anniversary of an iconic American speech.

1. Back to school blues. While some schools in New Hampshire and other parts of the country don't welcome students back until after Labor Day, Windham students head back a week early. The first day of school in Windham is today. Click here for bus routes and other valuable back-to-school information.

2. School hours. As a reminder, in and out times for Windham's four schools are as follows:

  • Golden Brook School - 8:40 am to 2:55 pm
  • Windham Center School - 8:45 am to 3:00 pm
  • Windham Middle School - 7:40 am to 2:15 pm
  • Windham High School - 7:52 am to 2:17 pm
3. Got back to school photos? We want to see 'em! Click here to share photos of your little ones as they head to school for the first time ... or the 12th!

4. So long ago, and yet far too recent. 50 years ago today, Martin Luther King Jr. gave his infamous "I Have A Dream Speech in Washington D.C. Today, communities around the state will honor the legacy of King in a variety of ways. Check out the events calendar on the NH Humanities Council website for more information on events near Merrimack.

5The weatherman says ... Another day to make sure you've got your rain gear at the ready, just in case. Today's forecast calls for scattered showers with thunderstorms also possible after noon, otherwise, mostly sunny with a high near 84. Tonight, isolated showers. Patchy fog after 5 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 61.
