Police Identify Man Killed on I-93 in Windham

A woman was also seriously injured in the accident.

State police have identified the man killed by an alleged drunk driver Wednesday on Interstate 93 southbound in Windham.

Angel Gonzalez, 44, of Boston was standing next to a Honda Accord near Exit that he had been driving with two other occupants. 

He was attempting to change a flat tire when Pauline Kochniec, 47, of Berlin, N.H., who was also traveling southbound in the breakdown lane. She was driving a Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

She failed to see the Honda Accord, striking the vehicle and sending Gonzalez a short distance along the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kochniec was transported to Elliott Hospital and is currently under arrest for aggravated driving while intoxicated. 

Additional charges could be forthcoming pending a complete investigation.

Alyssa Jarvis, 27, of Randolph, Vt. was seriously injured in the collision. She was transported to Parlkand Medical Center with injuries to her legs.

The third occupant, James Henley, 32, of Lynn, Mass. was uninjured in the incident.

Agencies assisting at the scene included the Windham Fire Department and Rescue, New Hampshire Department of Transportation, New Hampshire Medical Examiners office and the Rockingham County Attorneys office.

The New Hampshire State Police Traffic Accident Reconstruction team was also at the scene.

The collision remains under investigation at this time by Trooper. A. Monaco and the Traffic Accident Reconstruction team. Anyone who witnessed the collision or can provide information about the collision is asked to contact State Police Troop B at 603-672-3333.
