Liberty Utilities, the natural gas and electric utility with a combined 130,000 customers in New Hampshire takes serving the community to a new level.
“Our company tagline is ‘Local, responsive, we care’,” says Bill Sherry, Vice President of Customer Care, “and we take those words seriously. In the year and a half since we’ve been in business we have not only focused on building this new company but we are also focused on being a good neighbor and helping the communities that we work in.”
Liberty Utilities recently participated in a food drive with the United Way that resulted in employees donating over 500 lbs. of food to local food pantries. “The United Way let us know that there was a need and employees at all of our locations across the state stepped up.”
According to Sherry, the Liberty team has been out in force lending a hand to many different organizations including a clean-up project at Benson’s Park in Hudson, Relay for Life, The Salvation Army Toy Shop, Salem Boys and Girls Clubs Toy Drive and many more.
“The company has a program called Liberty Days,” said Sherry, “Each employee is encouraged to take up to three days per year, with pay, to volunteer for community organizations in our service territory. This type of company support really weaves community service into the fabric of the company. We participate in many events as a company such as the United Way Day of Caring and volunteering every month at the Sonshine Soup Kitchen in Derry, but we also encourage employees to serve organizations of their choosing.”
