Former Windham Fire Chief Dies at 83

Another long-time town employee also passed away last week.

Former Windham Fire Chief Stanley J. (Jake) Mackey died last week at the age of 83 following a brief illness.

Mackey, of Andover, passed away Oct. 4 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. He became Windham's first full-time fireman back in 1966, and worked his way up through the ranks, becoming fire chief in 1978. He retired in 1989 after serving the town for 30 years. A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at Searles Chapel at 3 Chapel Road in Windham. To view his full obituary, click here.

Another long-time employee, Virginia "Ginny" Gray also died last week. The former Community Development Department employee died Oct. 2 at the age of 76. A funeral mass was held Monday at Columbkille Church in Brighton, MA. To view the full obituary, click here.
