Windham Top Chef Cooked at Some of the Area's Finest Restaurants
68-year-old grandfather was also known for his juggling skills.
Robert "Bob" A. McCartin Jr., 68, died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, in Concord. Bob was born Jan., 31, 1945, in Dorcester, Mass., the son of Jeanne (Lussier) McCartin and Robert A. McCartin Sr.
Bob graduated from the Culinary Program at Essex Agricultural and Technical Institute and worked as a top chef for several of the area's finest restaurants, including Anthony's Pier Four of Boston.
Bob was a longtime New Hampshire resident, predominantly of Windham and Concord. He is well known for his personable nature and great gift for humor. He is also remembered for his thoughtfulness and generosity as demonstrated by his regular support and volunteerism at "Helping Hands," an outreach program for the homeless in the Concord area. He could be seen participating at many town events, including "Market Square Day," often performing a juggling routine for the crowd.
Bob is survived by his children, Suzanne McCartin and Paula McCartin; one granddaughter, Emily Wentworth; his mother, Jeanne L. McCartin; a brother, Joseph T. McCartin; sisters, Elisabeth M. McCartin, Jeanne A. McCartin, Barbara J. McCartin, Mary-Jo McCartin Carroll, Virginia P. McCartin, Jacqueline A. McCartin and Julie A. McCartin; and 16 nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his father, Robert A. McCartin Sr.
Visitation services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 11, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord (use 3 Church St. for GPS directions).
A funeral mass took place Thursday, Dec. 12, at 12 p.m. at Saint Matthews Parish, Two Searles Road, Windham.
Graveside services followed where Bob was laid to rest next to his father at Cemetery on the Plains in Windham, located at the corner of Cobbetts Pond Road and Ministerial Road, Windham.
