Selectmen to Host Joint Session With WEDC

The committee will present goals for the next year to the board.

The Windham Economic Development Committee will have a joint session with the Board of Selectmen tonight to discuss its plan for the next calendar year.

The committee, which is led by Chairman Bob Young, will also present its accomplishments over the previous year.

Part of the discussion will incude a breakdown of the goals that the WEDC has established for the coming year, which have been separated into three categories.

In a message to Selectman Chair Bruce Breton, Young broke down the three areas and what each will include.

Marketing, Education & Outreach – Targeting residents, and local and non-local businesses

Infrastructure – Inventory, provider contact information & plans and assessing town needs.

Land Use and Zoning Ordinance – Village District Project, Site Plan Update and Ordinance review.

Members of the WEDC have split into three standing subcommittees for the separate categories.

Al Letizio will serve as chairman of Marketing, Education and Outreach, Ralph Valentine as chairman for Infrastructure and Bev Donovan as chairwoman for Land Use and Zoning Orinances.

The workshop between the Selectmen and WEDC will come as part of a full meeting agenda, which will also include a discussion of the town's solid waste contract extension.

The board will also sign the Sustainable Communities Initiative.

The meeting will start at 7 p.m. at the Community Development Department.
