Windham GOP Delays Vote on Medicaid Expansion Resolution

The town committee will take up the matter at a future meeting.

The Windham Republican Committee delayed a vote Tuesday on a Medicaid expansion resolution.

Windham GOP Chairman Bruce Breton said the committee spent considerable time debating a resolution opposing the expansion of the state’s Medicaid program under Obamacare, but didn't not take a vote.

"Last night, the Windham Republican Committee met with Senate President Chuck Morse to hear his presentation on the senate compromise on Medicaid expansion," Breton said in a statement. "At the end of this presentation the members of the committee in attendance asked town chair Bruce Breton to hear from opponents of the plan and to reschedule a meeting that would allow those members of the committee who could not attend due to Windham candidates night and a county delegation meeting, before making a motion on a resolution to oppose or support the bill."

Breton said the committee is trying to schedule a presentation by Charlie Arlinghaus from the Josiah Bartlett Center and John Stephen, former state commissioner of Health and Human Services. That meeting has not been scheduled yet.
