Shame on you Bates. Who are you to tell people their rights only extend as far as their sexuality? You're ridiculous and a disgrace to our state. Go away, our motto isn't the LIVE FREE OR DIE unless you're gay state.

Thank you Rep. Bates for being brave enough to stand up for what you believe in despite the ridicule and unfair criticism that comes with that stand. We are honored to have you in this position at this time in history.

Nicely said Jill! This is the same rhetoric and predujice we've heard in every equal rights fight - but guess what - it is now legal for people of ALL races and BOTH sexes to vote, people to marry ANY race individual they choose and this too shall pass - this country was founded on equal rights for ALL.

Nicely said Rebekah. It's time for us to return to the dignity and respect we enjoyed as a nation when we recognized the sanctity of marriage as a union between a man and a woman. If other couples, whether it be a man and a man, a woman and a woman, a man and a dog, etc. etc. want to commit to each - they should have the right to do so but let's not pretend it is a marriage. Give them the financial and decision making powers so they have equality but let's not confuse them or ourselves by calling what they have a marriage. This is PC gone overboard.
