Boston Marathon is a NH Family Affair

"We run to heal. We run to honor and support those in our group who can't. We run for Martin, Lingzi, Krystle and Sean. We run to thank Boston."

One New Hampshire family rocked by the marathon bombings last year will go the distance in the 118th Boston Marathon to honor the matriarch of their family and to raise funds to cure hearing loss and tinnitus.

Jean Campbell was near the finish line in 2013 and suffered a life-changing, devastating hearing loss injury when the pressure-cooker bombs exploded. She and one of her sons, Mitchell, were just feet away from the second blast on April 15, 2013.

In their mother's honor, Trevor Campbell and Corey Campbell, 18 and 20, and dad and husband Christopher will run their first marathon.

Chris Campbell, in a phone interview on the eve of Marathon Monday, spoke of what an emotional journey it has been over the past year. They have kept a low profile, focusing on hearing recovery and family ties, and they are grateful for what they have and what they can do for their cause.

"I'm so excited I'm beyond words," Campbell said before he and his three sons took in the Red Sox game Sunday night at Fenway Park.

Running as "Team Campbell 4/15 Strong: Survivors and their loved ones," the family from Windham sum up their drive on their fundraising page for the Hearing Health Foundation:

"We run to heal. We run to honor and support those in our group who can't. We run for Martin, Lingzi, Krystle and Sean. We run to thank Boston. We run to cure hearing loss and tinnitus for Jean and the numerous others injured by the Bombing!"
