Storm Center: Windham Shovels Out, Subzero Temps Settle In

Welcome to the Windham Patch snowstorm center.

We'll utilize this page to provide you all the news and information you need on the borderline blizzard, which has been dubbed Winter Storm Hercules by The Weather Channel.

As of 1 p.m. Friday, the storm has started to wind down, though a couple more inches may be possible (Read the latest forecast below).

Snow Totals

According to Weather.com, Windham received more than six inches of snow Thursday, with another couple inches Friday morning. Other areas of the state, such as Hampton and Manchester, accumulated roughly 10 and 8 inches, respectively. Check out a more detailed report here.

Latest Forecast

The snowfall is pretty much finished but temperatures remain in the single digits for most of the day. According to Weather.com, the forecasted high today is 11 degrees. A wind chill advisory is in no longer in effect as of 1 p.m. Friday. Temperatures are expected to drop to a near record low of -11 overnight.

Closings

Windham Public Schools
All Windham public schools have cancelled Thursday and Friday classes.

Nesmith Public Library
The Nesmith Public Library closed Thursday at 2 p.m. and will reopen Friday at 1 p.m.

Windham Cooperative Kindergarten & Nursery
Closed Friday.

Windham Crossing Learning Center
Closed Thursday.

Parking Ban & Other Town Ordinances

From the Windham Highway Department:

SECTION VII : WINTER PARKING AND SNOW REMOVAL:

  1. No operator shall leave an unattended vehicle on any street between December 1st and April 1st, inclusive, of any year, except in case of an emergency, between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 6:00 am.  Any vehicle found parked in violation of this section may be moved by or under the direction of a police officer of the Town of Windham to a place where parking is permitted, at the expense of the operator.

  2. No vehicle shall be left unattended on any street when new snowfall has accumulated to a depth of four (4) inches, except in case of an emergency.  Any vehicle found parked in violation of this section may be moved by or under the direction of a police officer of the Town of Windham to a place where parking is permitted, at the expense of the operator.

  • No person shall shovel, plow, and in any way, move or cause snow to be moved, from private property to a street or sidewalk.
