Windham Christmas Tree Lighting is this Week

Here are six things you should know as you head into the first week of December in Windham.

1. Light it up! Windham holds its annual Christmas tree lighting on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 3-5 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive by fire truck around 3 pm, escorted by the Salem High Marching Band and Color Guard.  Santa will be in the Windham Cable Studio for photos until 5 pm. Read more here.

2. Saturday detour. The Christmas tree lighting event will be held at the town complex on N. Lowell road and Church Road. During the event, N. Lowell will be closed to all traffic between Route 111 and Londonderry Road. Traffic will be diverted and the alternate traffic route will be clearly marked with detour signs.
Anyone planning on attending the event should arrive prior to 3:00 pm as parking will be limited once the road is closed.

3. Road hazards. Patchy fog and black ice may hinder your morning commute, according to a special weather statement from the National Weather Service.

4. The weatherman says ... Today's forecast calls for a high temperature of 41 degrees with a 20-percent chance of rain and mostly cloudy skies. The overnight low is 33 degrees.

5. The rest of the week. Temperatures remain in the low- to mid-40s throughout the week, with little precipitation. See the five day forecast here.

6. On the agenda. Here's a glance at this week's Windham municipal meeting schedule:
