WHS Theater Company on Stage with 'Cinderella'

The production will take place from March 15-17.

The well-loved story of “Cinderella” will be on stage in a musical production with music by Richard Rodgers, and story and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. Windham High School Theater Company will present the fully staged production with a live orchestra Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, March 17 at 2 p.m. “We have a cast of 20 which includes the major and minor rolls, townspeople and dancers,” said Tess McKinley, and English and drama teacher at Windham High who is directing the play. Taia Tieland will play the role of Cinderella. Her Prince Charming is played by Patrick Stap and her Godmother is played by Jessica MacKimm. Talent Search to Take Place for Fall Production

The talent night will take place on June 21.

The Windham Actors Guild is looking for musical talent for a production to take place this coming September. In order to find that talent, WAG will host a talent night at Windham High School to take place on June 21. Interested performers for the talent night are asked to prepare two songs. Those songs must fit the theme of Broadway, Jazz or Glee. Fittingly, the annual fundraiser, set to take place on September 14, is titled "A Little Broadway, A little Jazz, A Little Glee." The production will take place at Castleton. The gala is a mesh of dancing, music and performances all centered around a dinner. Dr. Seuss Musical Coming to Senior Center

"The Lorax" will be performed on May 12.

Windham Recreation has announced a free weekend family musical based on a famous Dr. Seuss book, set to take place at the Senior Center. A traveling production group called Story Dance Touring Company will put on a performance of "The Lorax" on May 12 at 10 a.m. The popular eco-conscious book was recently adapted into a movie. SDTC is a division of New England Dance Ensemble, which has been responsible for several productions in Windham. The group is comprised of performers between ages five and 12 who have been trained in acting, singing and dancing. SDTC is directed by Kate Mullen, who is an actress from New York. Holocaust Drama Ballet Coming to WMS

A production of "A Child's View of the Holocaust" is coming in May.

An award-winning original drama ballet involving the Holocaust is making the rounds in Southern New Hampshire right now, and will find its way to the stage at Windham Middle School in May. "A Child's View of the Holocaust," which was choreographed in 1990 by New England Dance Ensemble (NEDE) Artistic Director Barbara Mullent, will be performed in town on May 16.  The show will take place at 8 a.m. and will give the audience a look at the atrocities that took occured towards the Jewish people by the Nazi party in Germany between 1939 and 1945. Phantom of the Opera to Debut Friday

Windham High School's Fine Arts Director calls the production one of "great complexity."

In one of the most ambitious theater productions to date at the new Windham High School, "Phantom of the Opera" is set to debut on March 9, with three more performances over two weekends. The internationally acclaimed musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber is being called one of "great complexity" by WHS Fine Arts Director Karen Seyward. "(It's) full of wonderful challenges for the students," Seyward said. According to a release regarding the production, those complexities require collaboration across Windham High School artistic disciplines, as well as a large commitment from the cast.  Daily rehearsals also took place throughout February vacation.
