Windham police are still investigating an incident that had many parents keep their children home today.
Police are still investigating a tweeted threat that was reportedly made against the Windham School District, and the department is telling parents that they do not believe the threat is credible. "We are in the process of trying to track down where these Connecticut schools got this information from and see if it's even legitimate," said Capt. Mike Caron. Caron said that the department does not have the original tweet, but that it appears that a parent or resident got a hold of it somehow online. At this point, he said the police details at the schools are a precautionary measure and the department is encouraging parents to bring their kids to school. WINDHAM, NH -- A Twitter threat originally thought to have been directed at the Windham, CT school district was actually meant for Windham, NH, according to an alert sent to parents by the school superintendent. Dr. Henry LaBranche said in his alert that at 9:20 p.m. he was informed of a letter generated by the principal of a school in Willimantic, CT: The letter explains that a tweeted threat, originally thought to be directed at their district, which is the Windham, CT school district, was not intended for them but for Windham, NH. Further the letter indicated that the matter had been referred to the NH State Police.
