Lift the ban on weapons at all nh schools so licensed citizens, including teachers and administrators can carry concealed. The easiest place for a coward to attack is a school. Reverse your psychology and protect your valuable assets. Don't get sucked in by our federal government that weapons are the cause of this. Sick people that belong in nut houses are the blame. Shaheen on Transportation Bill, I-93 [VIDEO]

From the Senate floor, Shaheen urges collaboration on a new highway bill.

From the floor of the U.S. Senate in Washington, DC, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) spoke Wednesday about the importance of passing a new transportation bill. She directly addressed the impact Congress' lack of action has had on the critical Interstate 93 expansion project. "The I-93 project would reduce congestion on our state’s most important road, create jobs and spur economic development in New Hampshire," she said in her remarks. "Although it’s been underway for several years, the pace of the project has been dramatically slower than it should be because we don’t have a transportation bill." She went on to say that economic development has slowed down as a result of uncertainty about the project. "I urge the House to swiftly appoint …

Shaheen Leads I-93 Widening Round Table

Federal lawmaker says highway bill is stalled because of attempts to add "non-relevant" amendments.

Salem Town Hall played host to Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) Tuesday for a round table discussion on the Interstate 93 widening project an efforts to ensure passage of a federal highway funding bill. The event was attended by numerous area business, community and government leaders as they aired their concerns over the ongoing project. Shaheen said the current bill in the U.S. Senate has received bi-partisan support and a separate bill on the issue is also going through the U.S. House at the moment. However, Shaheen said the Senate bill, which would provide two years of funding, is currently bogged down by "efforts to put non-germaine, non-relevant amendments" to keep it from going forward. "Money from the state bonding authority is sitting…

Sorry can't do that either, it's prohibited. For those that are scratching their heads trying figure out if this is the case how did or why do we have a toll in Hooksett. Believe it or not the tolls in NH are on travel ways that are considered part of a Turnpike system. Federal law allows tolls on turnpikes only and are prohibited on interstates. I've had a lot of discussion With Mr. Mark Sanborn…   more ›

Top Officials Look for Common Ground on I-93

Lynch wants "reasonable options," Bettencourt says no tax or toll hikes.

House Majority Leader D.J. Bettencourt told Patch this week it's time to put politics aside and find a way to complete the I-93 widening project. His comments came after Gov. John Lynch discussed the project in his final State of the State address on Tuesday. "Last year, I called on the Legislature to come together to fund the expansion of Interstate 93," he said. "Not only did the Legislature not act on Interstate 93, it cut overall highway fund revenue by $90 million." He said he would put "reasonable options" on the table to fund the remaining $365 million needed to complete the project. "I am asking the Legislature to do so as well," he said. "If we come together and show the necessary political will, we can complete the widening of …
