My name is Heather Petro and I have lived in Windham for eleven years.  Since living in Windham, I have been actively involved in supporting public education.  In 2003, I founded the Windham Public Kindergarten Initiative, and along with many others worked towards bringing public kindergarten to Windham.  In the 2009, I co-founded Windham LINK, a website dedicated to informing residents about education needs in our community.   Most recently, I served on the Facilities Master Planning Committee.

I grew up in a very small town in New Hampshire.  Windham surprises me - people say its a small town but it is one of the fastest growing towns in New Hampshire.  I think we have to stop thinking small and start acting big.  I think we have to invest in our schools, support local businesses, and put a few sidewalks in!

My husband and I have three children, ages 3, 9, and 11.  We believe strongly in public education, family dinners, and the benefits of fresh air.  He tends to be black and white, and tells me I am 16 shades of gray.  We balance each other out.  My blog will not be black and white, but hopefully not all gray either.  I hope to be a positive voice in the community and look forward to learning more about you through your comments on my blog.
